Adventures in Mildly EXTREME Couponing

I watch Extreme Couponing.

It's a guilty pleasure of mine.

The other day on TLC, they were having a marathon leading up to either the season finale or a new season premiere. I can't remember which.

I laid on the couch, a veritable vegetable at this point, and watched for hours as these insane women (and men) triumphed over the greedy corporate grocery stores and saved upwards of 90% on their ridiculously large totals.

I pleaded with the boyfriend and somehow convinced him to buy two Sunday papers.

Thus began my adventures in couponing.

Second Shirt Finished!

I did it!

It's finally complete!

I struggled and labored over this shirt for what seemed like forever, but I finally finished it.

Hipster Scarves

I found this tutorial and have been really excited to try it out.

After fumbling around with the ruffle shirt, finally ripping out that bad seam, and sewing the back of the shirt on, I decided that, instead of tackling the next step of adding the sleeves, I'd try making some hipster t-shirt scarves.

I also decided to take some hipster picture glam shots for good measure.

Defeating the Perils of Online Shopping

I like to buy clothes online.

I don't have to leave the house.

I don't have to deal with the crowds of teenagers at the mall.

I can easily see all of the clothes a store has to offer.

And I oftentimes get awesome discounts emailed to me that make it worth it to buy online.

But there's a problem with online shopping.

A dark side to this otherwise beautiful invention.

Green Thumbs...

...cost green.

The boyfriend needed to get a cordless drill in order to wall-mount our speakers, so it was off to The Home Depot this afternoon.

While there, we found ourselves perusing the plants and walking down sunlit aisles of perennials, annuals, herbs, and trees.

I wanted to buy everything, but, my god, starting gardening projects is expensive.

I ended up buying enough to start a small potted herb garden to keep on the patio and to start a small potted succulent garden.

While the boyfriend's away...

the Gabs will.... sew....

The boyfriend had an extra anatomy lab from 6 - 8 pm this evening.

Meaning he was gone from 5:30 - 9 pm.

I got bored after about the first half hour of his absence, considering I had already been at home all day by myself and had pretty much exhausted the tv watching and internet browsing for one day.

I ended up going through the patterns, books, and magazines that I have lying around and found this pattern.

Botched Coasters and New Cat Toys

Well I finally broke out the new sewing machine!

I intended on making these:

But ended up with this:
